Part of Sales funnels that hold up: buyer-verifiable stages, not vanity counts
What to expect from B2B sales funnels examples: the 2027 view
Named B2B sales funnel examples from Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft and others, and what each one expects of your stages, data and reporting.
What to take away
- Named examplesSalesforce Sales Cloud, HubSpot Sales Hub, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales, Pipedrive and Zoho CRM each model a different purchase. Oracle NetSuite lead-to-cash and fixed public procurement routes do too.
- Copy the purchase structure, not the stage names. A stage that advances on a seller task rather than a buyer decision will inflate pipeline.
- Give every stage boundary an observable buyer decision, an owner, and a maximum age before the record regresses or closes.
- Test the model against wins, losses, stalls and poor-fit records before you forecast or pay commission on it.
- Separate models when the buying group, contract entity or delivery resource genuinely differs.
Seven named funnel examples
B2B sales funnels examples are worth reading only when they are named. The seven below are real, documented models, and each expects something different of your data. Compare them against your own purchase before you borrow a stage list.
Pricing figures are typical published list ranges as of June 2026; confirm current list prices before budgeting.
| Example | Stage names in order |
|---|---|
| Salesforce Sales Cloud | 10 stages: Prospecting; Qualification; Needs Analysis; Value Proposition; Id. Decision Makers; Perception Analysis; Proposal or Price Quote; Negotiation or Review; Closed Won; Closed Lost |
| HubSpot Sales Hub | 7 stages: Appointment Scheduled; Qualified to Buy; Presentation Scheduled; Decision Maker Bought-In; Contract Sent; Closed Won; Closed Lost |
| Dynamics 365 Sales | 4 stages: Qualify; Develop; Propose; Close |
| Pipedrive | 7 typical stages: Lead In; Contact Made; Demo Scheduled; Proposal Made; Negotiation; Won; Lost |
| Zoho CRM | 9 typical stages: Qualification; Needs Analysis; Value Proposition; Identifying Decision Makers; Perception Analysis; Proposal or Price Quote; Negotiation or Review; Closed Won; Closed Lost |
| Oracle NetSuite | 6 stages: Lead; Opportunity; Quote; Order; Fulfillment; Revenue |
| Public procurement | 6 stages: Qualification; Questions; Compliant Submission; Evaluation; Award; Mobilization |
Salesforce Sales Cloud ships a default opportunity path. It runs through prospecting, qualification, needs analysis, value proposition and Id. Decision Makers. It continues with perception analysis, proposal or price quote, negotiation or review, then the closed pair.
The path suits teams that want a long, auditable trail with a buying-group field. Salesforce's published list price runs from about $25 per user per month for Starter Suite to roughly $500 for its top Sales Cloud edition, billed annually.
HubSpot Sales Hub uses a shorter deal pipeline you define yourself, with stage weightings and a separate ticket pipeline for post-sale work. The sample pipeline moves from appointment scheduled and qualified to buy through presentation scheduled and decision maker bought-in. It closes on contract sent, closed won or closed lost.
It suits mid-market teams that want one object across marketing and sales. A free tier exists, and paid seats typically run from about $15 to $150 per seat per month by tier.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales runs a product-specific business process flow of Qualify, Develop, Propose and Close. Microsoft's July 2026 stage documentation warns that the displayed phase can reflect the last change across multiple flows. Verify configuration before you report on it.
It suits teams already on the Power Platform. Licensing typically runs from about $65 per user per month for Sales Professional to about $135 for Sales Enterprise.
Pipedrive is built around a visual deal pipeline with mandatory next-activity prompts. It suits transactional sales with short cycles and few stakeholders. Per-seat list pricing typically runs from about $14 to $99 per month, lower on annual billing.
Zoho CRM adds Blueprint, which enforces which stage transition a record may take and which fields must be filled before it moves. It suits teams that want process control at a low seat cost.
List pricing typically runs from about $14 to $52 per user per month billed annually.
Oracle NetSuite runs lead-to-cash: lead, opportunity, quote, order, fulfillment and revenue. It suits sellers whose funnel continues into billing and revenue recognition. NetSuite does not publish list prices, so treat any figure you see as a quote for your scope rather than a rate.
Public procurement routes, such as a state or federal solicitation, are not a CRM pipeline at all. Federal bids post on SAM.gov, and state and local agencies publish theirs on portals such as Bonfire and BidNet. The published route fixes the stages listed above.
You cannot skip or reorder them, and no seller task moves a bid forward. Enterprise and regulated purchases turn on the buying group that account-based marketing organizes.
Write evidence for every boundary
Stage Evidence Checklist
- Observable buyer decision
- Seller requirement
- Owner
- Required data
- Maximum useful age
- Exit and regression
- Close reason
Do not advance a record because a seller finished an internal task. If the buyer decision did not change, the stage did not change. Move a HubSpot deal marked contract sent only on the buyer's acknowledgment. A rep hitting send is not a buyer decision.
Use this template for each boundary. Ages and artifacts are typical starting points; set your own and record them.
| Example | Buyer decision | Evidence artifact | Owner | Max age (typical) | Regression rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Salesforce Sales Cloud | Buyer names economic buyer | Mutual action plan | Account executive | 14 days | Back to needs analysis if absent |
| HubSpot Sales Hub | Buyer acknowledges contract | Written acknowledgment | Deal owner | 7 days | Back to decision maker bought-in |
| Dynamics 365 Sales | Buyer agrees to evaluate proposal | Delivery record plus buyer response | Opportunity owner | 10 days | Back to develop |
| Pipedrive | Buyer confirms review date | Calendar invite with buyer | Sales rep | 5 days | Back to demo scheduled |
| Zoho CRM | Buyer accepts quote version | Quote acceptance log | Process owner | 7 days | Blueprint returns to prior allowed step |
| Oracle NetSuite | Buyer issues purchase order | Customer purchase order | Order management | 1 business day | Back to quote |
| Public procurement | Agency accepts bid as compliant | Agency confirmation or portal status | Proposal manager | 1 business day | Back to questions if portal rejects |
Match the model to economics
Microsoft's January 2026 Project Operations page uses a distinct project-based path connecting opportunity, quote, contract and delivery. That is evidence a commercial motion can need different entities and stages from the standard opportunity.
Separate or Combine Models?
Do purchase decisions or resources differ materially?
Separate models
Combine models
Verify local scope, cost, approvals and delivery behavior before you adopt it. That match is the point of building B2B sales funnels.
Match manual work to value, margin, risk, and cycle. Also match it to specialist capacity, implementation, support, and renewal. Separate models when purchase decisions or resources differ materially. A NetSuite lead-to-cash record and a Pipedrive transactional deal rarely belong in one pipeline.
Funnel pattern selection map
| Example | Defining constraint | Do not confuse |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce Sales Cloud | Long auditable path, buying group | Stage name with buyer progress |
| HubSpot Sales Hub | One object, marketing and sales | Deal stage with ticket stage |
| Dynamics 365 Sales | Product-specific business flows | Displayed phase with pipeline truth |
| Pipedrive | Short cycle, next action | Activity with commitment |
| Zoho CRM | Enforced stage transitions | Blueprint step with buyer decision |
| Oracle NetSuite | Lead-to-cash, billing handoff | Opportunity with order |
| Public procurement | Published, fixed route | Submission with award |
Turn examples into test cases
Classify each stall against two models. A worked case makes the method concrete.
Worked test case. A $60,000 deal has no buyer response for 45 days. The rep sent a proposal 30 days ago. Under HubSpot Sales Hub, the record sits at contract sent only if the buyer acknowledged; without acknowledgment it regresses to decision maker bought-in.
Under Salesforce Sales Cloud, the record sits at proposal or price quote until the buyer confirms negotiation or review, and the 45-day gap flags it as stale. Both models call the deal stalled, but the regression rule differs. The test passes only if the two classifiers agree on the buyer decision and disagree only on the label.
Document disagreements and pilot reversibly before you forecast on it.
What to expect in 2027
Stage labels in Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics 365, Pipedrive and Zoho will keep changing with each release. Plan reporting around decisions and evidence, so a rename costs you a field mapping rather than a rebuild.
Expect fixed procurement routes to stay fixed. SAM.gov and state portals publish their own steps, and no vendor release alters them. Treat new pipeline features as capture tools and test each one against the stage boundary it claims to move.
Common questions
Which B2B sales funnel example should a team copy?
Copy none unchanged. Pick the closest purchase structure from the seven above. Then rebuild units, decisions, evidence, owners, economics and delivery for your own offer.
Can one opportunity follow two funnel patterns?
It can involve linked paths, but keep one accountable commercial record. Make dependencies, transfers, values and outcomes explicit so reporting does not double-count.
How should a funnel example be tested?
Use representative historical and active records, more than one classifier, documented disagreements, customer evidence and a reversible pilot before you forecast on it.
What changes in 2027?
Expect stage labels and pricing tiers to shift with each vendor release. Buyer decisions will not, and published procurement steps will not. Products priced by quote, such as NetSuite, will stay quoted.
What about privacy and accessibility checks?
The NIST Privacy Framework starting guide outlines a voluntary process for identifying and managing privacy risk. Use it to assign data and response owners for these examples. It is not legal clearance, and privacy law varies by jurisdiction, so confirm obligations with qualified counsel.
The W3C information and relationships explanation says visual structure and relationships should also be programmatically available. Apply that check to any funnel reporting page, then test with the users and technology in scope. Common B2B sales funnels questions cover what these examples leave open.
